So… What’s this Louisiana roofing grant all about and how can I take advantage?

In the simplest terms, the LFHP is a state grant program offers up to $10,000 to help Louisiana homeowners upgrade their roofs to the FORTIFIED Roof Standard. The eligibility checklist looks like this:
- Primary residence only, with a homestead exemption confirmed.
- Must have an active homeowners policy with wind coverage. If you’re in a FEMA-designated flood zone, flood insurance is also required.
- NO new builds, condos, or mobile homes.
- You need to pass an evaluation by a FORTIFIED-certified Evaluator who ensures the house is in “good repair” and suitable for upgrades.
- Once selected, you’ll need bids from at least three LFHP-approved contractors, and the work must meet IBHS requirements.
AND HERE’S THE KICKER… this round is limited to residents of Louisiana’s Coastal Zone and of Lake Charles, Sulphur, and Westlake.
